Our practice features state-of-the-art dental technology to help us provide you with the most efficient and painless care, and to save you the time and costs of extra office visits and referral visits. We regularly upgrade our technology, and we are committed to training our team so that we develop expertise in using all our devices effectively and safely. Here is just some of the technology that helps us give you the best in modern dental care.

CamX Spectra Caries Detection Aid

spectra-with-laptopTo help us identify occurrences of caries (cavities and tooth decay) that may be difficult to see—even with x-rays—because they are between teeth or in their beginning stages, we use the CamX Spectra Caries Detection Aid. This device uses fluorescence to detect early-stage caries, and its software generates color-coded images and a numerical indication of the depth of cavities and decay. Early detection results in less need for fillings.

CEREC Technology

Winchester-Dental-Winchester-Virginia-Cerec-oven-2016-01-12-13.37.49Our lab features state-of-the-art CEREC technology, which allows us to scan patients’ teeth, and then design, mill, and crystallize crowns in a short period of time so that we can place them in patients’ mouths during a single visit.

Cold Laser Technology

k-laser-1Using K-Laser® modern pain relief technology, we can prioritize and help ensure your physical comfort before we perform any other treatment you might require. Our laser unit provides pain management and therapy that is safe, non-invasive, and painless.

Dental CBCT Unit

IMG_20160202_170040Our in-office technology also includes a dental CBCT (cone beam computer tomography) unit—a specialized x-ray unit that allows us to take 3D images of teeth, soft tissues, nerve paths, sinus cavities, and bone within the craniofacial region—so that we may provide you with the most successful cosmetic dentistry possible, and so that we can obtain comprehensive views of head and neck areas involved in the treatments we provide for snoring and sleep apnea, TMJ therapy, and functional orthodontics. The radiation level of the unit is extremely low—about 1000 times lower than that of a conventional medical CAT scanner. Our dental CBCT unit allows us to complete the imaging we need right in the office, and to streamline your dental treatments.

We use our CBCT unit for:

  • 3D planning for functional orthodontics
  • Airway imaging for snoring and sleep apnea patients
  • Cavity-detecting x-rays for patients with sensitive gag reflexes (eliminates the need to place films in the mouth)
  • Determining the precise location and position of wisdom teeth for streamlined extractions
  • Evaluating dental sites for optimized implant placement
  • Evaluation of the head, neck, mouth, and facial structures of patients with TMJ disorders

Diode Laser

During certain procedures, we use our diode laser in place of a scalpel in order to reduce post-operative pain and discomfort.

DSLR Camera

We use this camera to take detailed photographs of patients’ teeth and mouths. This helps us with treatment planning and progress tracking.

Intraoral Camera

intraoral-cameraWhen it comes to your dental health, the importance of prevention cannot be overstated. X-rays are an integral part of your dental records, yet they give only a certain kind of view of the inside of your mouth. We also use an intraoral camera to show us additional aspects of your teeth and mouth in more detail. This can reveal cavities beside fillings, cracked teeth, plaque deposits, and excessive wear. Discovering these types of problems in their early stages allows us to provide less invasive, more cost-effective treatment.

Our intraoral camera is about the same size as the mirror we use during your regular hygiene appointments. While the camera itself is almost unnoticeable, it is connected to a monitor, giving you the opportunity to see everything we see. It helps us keep you apprised of your dental health, so that you can make well-informed decisions regarding your treatment options.
