What is Myobrace?
Myobrace is a method of orthodontic treatment that helps align teeth and jaws, working with or without other orthodontic treatment methods. More importantly, Myobrace can also help to correct underlying conditions and poor oral habits that cause crooked teeth. For patients with differing correction needs, Myobrace appliances are available in various materials and sizes.

Which materials are used to make Myobrace appliances?
Varying models of the appliances are made of either silicone or polyurethane in different degrees of pliability. To prescribe the best model for you, we consider your age, stage of facial development, and dental needs. For example, while adults with TMJ issues will require certain types of appliances, children whose facial structure is still developing will require others.
What does Myobrace treatment involve?
Patients wear their removable appliances for 1-2 hours daily, and overnight while they sleep. Each day, patients also perform a series of training activities to improve their tongue posture, muscle function, and breathing.
For which issues is Myobrace recommended?
These are some of the issues for which we might prescribe Myobrace treatment:
- Bite issues
- Bruxism (teeth grinding) at night
- Crooked teeth
- Optimal facial development for children
- Sleep breathing issues
- TMJ issues
Does Myobrace provide other advantages?
Yes! In addition to straightening teeth and correcting oral habits and underlying causes of misaligned teeth, Myobrace treatment offers these advantages:
- Better overall health through healthier jaw joints, healthier facial muscles, and larger, stronger airways
- Faster treatment timeframes
- No need for appointments with an oral myofunctional therapist
- Stabilized bite pattern, which reduces the chance for teeth to shift back into misalignment
Is Myobrace treatment comfortable? What may I expect?
New Myobrace patients can expect an initial adjustment period, though the appliances are designed to be as comfortable as possible. During this period, it is common for patients to experience extra saliva production while wearing an appliance. New Myobrace patients may need several weeks to work up to wearing the appliance for a full night. However, performing the training activities regularly each day can help patients to enjoy a longer and more comfortable night of sleep while they wear the Myobrace appliance.
What is an average Myobrace treatment timeframe?
Typical treatment timeframes are between 1 ½ and 2 years, depending on patients’ diligence with wearing their appliances and practicing their daily activities.
